I’m A Celeb! Richard is the current series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, which launched on Sunday evening
Ahead of appearing in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Richard revealed that Chloe’s husband James Haskell, 36 – who was previously in the show – advised him to ‘pipe down’ and ‘not lose your temper’ while in the castle.
Richard recalled: ‘James is huge. Chloe brought him home quite early on, after two or three months because she knew that he was the one. She brought him to the house on a Sunday afternoon.
‘The downstairs hall went dark like a total eclipse. He was huge. His whole frame filled the door and blocked the light. When he went in [to I’m A Celeb] he suffered from hunger a lot more than the others.
‘He had a flash point with the camp and shouted at them. People don’t like that. so he told me ‘don’t let the hunger get to you. Pipe down and don’t let it get the better of you!’.’
Hangry: ‘When he went in he suffered from hunger a lot more than the others. He had a flash point with the camp and shouted at them’ said Richard of son-in-law James
Richard – who was recently confirmed as Piers Morgan’s replacement on GMB – insisted that off-camera he’s a ‘peace maker’ and so believes he’s unlikely to get into arguments during his time in the castle.
The presenter said: ‘In real life – I bring – I’m quite a peace maker – certainly within the family and friends. When things get tense I’m good at calming things down.
‘That’s one of the things that I’ve got. I’m good at lowering the temperature when things get heated. I don’t think I’m gonna get confrontations in there.’
Elsewhere during the chat, Richard revealed that wife Judy ‘didn’t do back handsprings up the stairs’ when he told her he wanted to do the show, but that she understood why it was a challenge he was keen to take on.

Explaining why he decided to sign up this year, he joked: ‘I keep asking myself that! ITV ask and I always say thanks but no thanks. Judy and I love the show. We have never missed a series.
‘This year when ITV asked, a light bulb went on and I thought… what’s happened is that it’s become a social part of the fabric of the UK. It’s more than just a TV show, it’s a big event every year. It’s no flash in the pan now.
‘With my journo hat on I thought I’d be quite curious to see what it’s like from the inside. I thought maybe I’d quite enjoy it.
‘I spoke to Judy and, although she didn’t do back handsprings up the stairs at the idea of me doing it, she understood why I might enjoy it. Judy wouldn’t dream of doing it herself.’
