Heartbreaking: On Wednesday, Myleene Klass, 43, admitted that she couldn’t enjoy being pregnant with son Apollo, 2, for fear of being told ‘there’s no heartbeat’

In a clip from her upcoming documentary, Myleene explained: ‘I was about to fly home for a D&C. I woke up and it was bleeding and it wasn’t like normal bleeding.’

The star broke down as she heartbreakingly confessed: ‘I just knew. There was no warning. I just woke up and it’s just that empty sinking feeling. It just hits you.’

A D&C, a Dilation and curettage, is a surgical procedure to remove tissue from inside the uterus.

The singer then told Lorraine in her ITV studio: ‘I think for all the woman – and there are 20,000 of us in the UK every single month – for all the women that this happens to, I think the first port of call is blame.

‘I think the language around miscarriage – miss, you miss something – It’s just always so negative. A failed pregnancy, an incompetent cervix.

‘It just goes on and on, “how did you lose the baby?” and so immediately the first thing you do, is you look inwardly. That’s part of the reason why I wanted to make this documentary.

‘You already feel like you’ve failed, and you look for that safety in numbers with other women who’ve been through this.’

After watching the emotional clip from her W documentary together, Lorraine told Myleene that she too had experienced a miscarriage.

Myleene said: ‘I think it’s such an uncomfortable subject. It’s so sad, it’s dead babies. There’s nowhere to go from that. I’m so sorry I didn’t know it happened to you.’

Lorraine – who has previously opened up about her miscarriage – explained: ‘It was a long time ago. You do sort of mourn for something that didn’t happen,’ before asking: ‘Could you enjoy being pregnant with Apollo?’

Myleene confessed: ‘No. Every given moment you think you’re going to be told “I’m sorry there’s no heartbeat.” Every time you go to the loo you think there’ll be blood.’

Viewer reaction: Viewers took to social media to heap praise on Myleene for her appearance on Lorraine

It was last October when Myleene first revealed she had suffered four miscarriages before giving birth to her ‘rainbow baby’ son Apollo.

The TV personality has lifted the lid on her mental health battle following the ordeal, in which she experienced ‘grief, trauma, sadness and fear’.

‘I lost a lot of me,’ she admitted in a teaser for her documentary. ‘I couldn’t talk about it for a year, I couldn’t even say the word.

‘It is one word, but it is grief, it is trauma, it is sadness, it is fear. There must be a reason people can’t say it,’ she questioned.

The radio DJ is now encouraging others to speak about their pregnancy losses, in order to normalise the experience – as Tommy’s report that an estimated one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage in the UK.

She said: ‘I’ve got my group of friends and you know they’ve been through the same, we literally pass that miscarriage baton. It is harder for me to find friends who have not had miscarriages now.

‘The change I’d like to see being made is already being made. The fact that we are having these conversations: I couldn’t even say the word “miscarriage” before. ‘
